Premium Security for the Elderly
Today, the elderly population is the largest it has ever been, and it will continue to steadily grow. In South Florida, we have one of the largest elderly populations in the nation. Health concerns for the elderly are a great source of anxiety for seniors, their families and friends. With home health security systems, this anxiety can be greatly reduced. While no system can guarantee your health and safety in the home, a home health security system can offer dramatic benefits.
ADT offers their customers the Companion Service. In the case of not only a break in, but also of a medical emergency, ADT can be there to help. There are two parts to this security system; a base with a phone jack built in, a speaker and an emergency button, which is carried by the senior. This can be in the form of either a waterproof wristband or pendant. ADT also has a keychain remote, which can also be programmed for medical or panic alarms and is used in conjunction with your home security system. However, the worn buttons are more convenient.
How Does The System Work? It operates through ADT’s two-way voice system intercom. If there is an emergency, the senior can press the button carried with them or the button on the base unit. The unit will then dial the number for a 24 hour help center staffed with professionally trained advisor’s who have years of experience in aiding seniors with their health concerns. The advisor will ascertain if there is an emergency, the severity of the emergency, and then dispatch an ambulance or alert a family member.
The base unite operates through the existing phone lines of the home. If a phone is off the hook in the home, the unit will attempt to dial out. If there is no success, it will emit a loud, high-pitched sound to alert the homeowner that it cannot dial out. There is also an available upgrade for the unit that will disconnect any phone in use throughout the home and dial out.
The system works up to a distance of 300 feet from the base unit, ensuring the utmost security and safety, even for the outdoors. In addition, the unit comes with a batter backup that can power it for up to 20 hours in the event of a power failure.
One other innovative feature of ADT’s home medical monitoring system is that it comes with temperature sensors. These sensors monitor the temperature in the home and if the temperature drops below a safe level or climbs above a safe level, the unit will automatically dial for help. There is also an unconditional warranty on parts, labor and service. You will never be charged for repairs to the unit unless the unit or transmitter is lost. Using a home health security system is a simple process that offers tremendous benefits for any senior living alone or even in a home with other family members. Call an ADT specialist today.
