Burglar Breaks in While You’re Home: 3 Ways to Conceal Yourself Until Police Arrives
Having a burglar break into your house, while you and your family were home, presents the absolute worst case scenario for most. Depending on your living conditions, your options are very limited in such cases. Below are three concealment options you may want to consider.
The best way to conceal your presence would be to remove yourself from the home. Grab your family and leave the house, quickly! Hide at neighbors or down the street. Never stay in the house unless it is the only option.
If your house has a basement or second floor, try to be on opposite floors as the burglar. Keep your windows in proper working order for this very reason. If the burglar realizes you are in the house, you can always escape through a window.
Always remember, whatever place you choose to “hide” in, you now own it. For example, if you jump into a closet, you will be in there until a) the police arrive b) the burglar leaves, or c) the burglar finds you. Unless the windowless room you are hiding in has multiple loaded handguns in it, always give yourself multiple options for success.
Your best option in such a scenario is to have your home monitored by a security system, like ADT. Having an ADT home security system may allow you to contact police from multiple rooms in your house. Bad guys are always looking for ways to take advantage of a situation. Protecting your home and family is something which should not be taken lightly.
