The oldest and most recognized burglar alarm equipment manufacturer in today’s market is Honeywell. Honeywell products are formerly known as Ademco alarm products and were the pioneers in burglar alarm manufacturing. There was a time when Ademco was the practically the only parts provider and still today they hold the title of most innovative and cutting edge technology producers. The Honeywell line of security products is the only manufacturer to offer a color touchscreen keypad. They are also the only ones to offer total integration between your alarm system, cctv and home automation. With this alarm integration you can actually be away from home and in the event of an alarm activation you will instantly receive an email and actual images from your cctv system sent right to your Blackberry or other PDA. If you are online you can actually log into your system and using an online virtual keypad, control your system just as if you were at home. Where there is a need for any type of security application, Honeywell should be your first option to go to. On the downside however, Honeywell products are more expensive than almost all other manufacturers. Another drawback in the Honeywell line of security products is the same old appearance of their products. While other manufacturers are always on the move to make their product line more modern in appearance, Honeywell always maintains the same look which they have used for at least 15 years.
Coming in second place in popularity nationwide, is the security line of products manufactured by DSC. DSC has been making alarm products for more than 20 years and have steadily climbed to the top by making innovative and affordable security products. DSC has focused their efforts on giving the customer a product that both works and also looks non intrusive in your home. They have recently upgraded their complete burglar alarm product line with state of the art sensors that not only are very reliable but also look great. DSC however, has not been able to put out on the market a wireless keypad, while Honeywell on the other hand has at least four different wireless keypad models. While DSC does offer a great price for their product, equipment malfunction ranks much higher than their counterpart, Honeywell.
The last burglar alarm manufacturer we will turn our attention to is none other than the household name we all recognize as simply GE. GE entered the burglar alarm market some years ago by purchasing an existing manufacturer called ITI. GE has capitalized on the great reputation ITI had for making excellent wireless technology sensors. When it comes to reliable and effective wireless burglar alarm sensors, nothing beats GE sensors. The battery life of their sensors also far exceeds those of any other manufacturer. However. GE is way behind its competition on making any new advances in the field. Their equipment has not been updated in years and is not the most visually appealing either.
